Surrounded by his favorite paintings at Viennaโ€™s Leopold Museum, Welser-Mรถst considers the private encounter between artwork and viewer โ€” just as a painting reveals different forms to different eyes, โ€œa performance is very much determined by the audience.โ€ He recalls the thrill of his own first experience seeing ๐˜š๐˜ข๐˜ญ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ, and marvels at Straussโ€™s ability to elevate humanity through music.
