PROKOFIEV Symphony No. 6 in E-flat minor
Prokofiev composed his Sixth Symphony to reflect on “the wounds that cannot be healed” as World War II came to a devastating close, leading to his denouncement by the Soviet government for “antipopular tendencies.” This powerful recording captures the cataclysm at the center of this suppressed work.
Recorded live in Mandel Concert Hall on September 28 and October 1, 2023.
