USTVOLSKAYA Symphony No. 5, “Amen”
POULENC 𝘓𝘢 𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘹 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦

This recording pairs two powerful 20th-century works exploring reconciliation, faith, loss, and resilience. Poulenc’s 𝘓𝘢 𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘹 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘦 features soprano Sarah Aristidou in a searing portrait of a woman’s final telephone conversation with the lover who has abandoned her. It is paired with Galina Ustvolskaya’s stark and enigmatic Fifth Symphony, “Amen,” featuring Tony F. Sias as reciter in an intimate, unsettling setting of The Lord’s Prayer.

Recorded live at Severance Music Center on May 23 & 24, 2025.
