This recording pairs two powerful 20th-century works exploring reconciliation, faith, loss, and resilience. Poulencโ€™s ๐˜“๐˜ข ๐˜ท๐˜ฐ๐˜ช๐˜น ๐˜ฉ๐˜ถ๐˜ฎ๐˜ข๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜ฆ features soprano Sarah Aristidou in a searing portrait of a womanโ€™s final telephone conversation with the lover who has abandoned her. It is paired with Galina Ustvolskayaโ€™s stark and enigmatic Fifth Symphony, โ€œAmen,โ€ featuring Tony F. Sias as reciter in an intimate, unsettling setting of The Lordโ€™s Prayer.
